Themes include women, transitions, strength, empowerment, the inevitable 'what ifs' of life.
Materials used include vintage record book, collaged/painted antique lace, contemporary ephemera, beads, buttons, found objects, fibers, ribbons, hand-dyed/printed fabric. Cotton, silk, organza, mulberry paper.
Some quotes from the book are:
"Do one thing every day that scares you."
"Watching the moon~~solitary~~I knew myself completely"
"How might your life have been different if there had been a place for you ~~a place of women where you were received and affirmed?"
"I am willing to be powerful; I am willing to be peaceful
I am willing to stand tall and walk gracefully. . . . ."
"I have heard the Mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me. . . .
"Winter is an etching; spring is a watercolor
Summer is an oil painting; autumn is the mosaic . . ."
