It is quite lovely; I think you would like the Maine coast, T. The coastline is not gentle: the forest comes right down to the shore. As you go down the coast (down east, as they say) it is rocky. This group of islands lie between New Hampshire and Maine in the Atlantic but really belong to New Hampshire.
