Then she explains in plain, heartfelt language about picking out calico "caliker" and patterns.
The Lord sends us pieces ..... (she says)
but we can cut 'em out and put 'em together

Beautiful quilt! And yes, so much thinking in that stitching!!!! Sometimes when I look at something I have made, so can I remember what I thinking of when I did the stitching or what I was listen to, I often listen to radio or a book / novel
So much truth in such simple wisdom. My mother made a similar quilt a few years before she passed away, all with scraps of very vibrant colors, something she loved.
Yes, Gunnel I understand. For the music I am now listening to internet radio (pandora) and sewing and planning and thinking to wonderful music. Today it is Cesaria from Portugal.
Phyllis, when I was a new quilter, Larry came home from a yard sale with a very large box of fabric scraps from an old woman who no longer wanted to or could quilt. So I was her beneficiary in more ways than one .... her scraps gave me hours, weeks of pleasure. And now they keep me warm.
Lots of wisdom here. There is something magical about creating order of little pieces.
